Education is our flagship project, through which we have positively impacted the lives of over 18 , 50 students across four states in India. At Ram Kumar Kamla Devi Foundation, we firmly believe that education is the most potent tool for breaking the cycle of poverty. The absence of quality educational facilities perpetuates social challenges—especially for underprivileged families—taking away opportunities for income, growth, and sustainable development. Through our education initiatives, we aim to address these foundational gaps in the education system.
Shikshalaya, our free learning center, has been operational for four successful years. we began by supporting underprivileged children with tuition fees and conducting informal classes in volunteers’ homes. By 2019, we proudly established our first formal learning center in Najafgarh, New Delhi. Despite challenges, including the global pandemic, Ram Kumar Kamla Devi Foundation remained steadfast in our mission to provide education to children who truly deserve a chance.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we swiftly adapted by launching E-Shikshalaya. This initiative played a pivotal role in ensuring that education continued when everything else came to a standstill. Many families lacked access to digital resources—some had no smartphones, while others had only one device, often used by a working parent. To bridge this gap, Ram Kumar Kamla Devi Foundation distributed tablet phones to these families, enabling children to continue their education from home.
Prior to this intervention, students were missing out on regular classes and were only able to visit school every Saturday to try and catch up—an approach that significantly hindered their learning. E-Shikshalaya changed that reality. It ensured that learning never stopped, serving as an educational lifeline during one of the most difficult times in recent history.
